To prove its function, we tested the intercooler back to back with a stock intercooler on a modified Can-Am X3. With the only variable being the intercooler, our testing scenario was to do full pulls on the dyno 5 times in a row and on the 6th run, data log the charge air temperatures. First we did the stock intercooler, then followed up with the Agency Power intercooler after a short break. From the graph, you can see how red line (Agency Power Intercooler) only spikes to 124F. The OEM intercooler spikes to nearly 130F. This is almost a 5 percent difference in temperature. The advantages of the intercooler were also seen when we tried to increase boost pressure on a big injector tune to 19psi. With the stock intercooler, the knock sensors were not happy. However once the intercooler was installed, the cooler charge temperatures allowed us to maximize performance for both a 91 and 100 octane tune at higher boost levels. It features stainless steel mounting brackets and the spring retainer to use the factory or aftermarket catalytic converter pipe. The unique AP tips are also constructed from 18 gauge, stainless steel that are bolted to the exhaust with an integrated spark arrestor system. The dual tip design works with the factory plastic exhaust shielding. A custom Magnaflow muffler was designed for this project to give a nice tone when the exhaust valve is closed. Exhaust gases go through the resonator muffler and out of the left hand side tip. When the valve is opened, exhaust gases bypass the muffler and exit straight through the right side exhaust tip. To operate the valvetronic exhaust, a custom made plug and play switch by XTC Powersports is included. This switch features color matching LEDs for the on and off position. It is designed to be mounted on the center dash or the center console. If you mount it up on the center dash by the start and stop button, the switch plugs into an existing port already available. If you mount it on the center console, the CANBUS bar is located under this trim to easily tie in the power and ground. The valve operates using vacuum pressure. Each kit includes a vacuum block that is fitted to the stock intake manifold. Here you connect the solenoid that is operated by the switch to open and close the valve. The purpose of a BOV is not just to sound cool, but it is designed to release the pressure that is built up in the charge side of the system. With nowhere to go, the pressure can cause turbulence to the impeller slowing the spool of the turbo down and causing premature wear. By installing a blow off valve, you can improve boost response, prolong the life of the turbo, and of course, get that cool swoosh sound! The Agency Power blow off valve for the Can-Am X3 and 1000R can be used in conjunction with any aftermarket turbo hose pipe that has a 1 inch BOV flange. Since the Can-Am Maverick does not come with a blow off valve, many companies like Agency Power manufacture a new blow off valve tube out of aluminum or silicone. These charge tubes main purpose is to improve the air flow but also allow for the installation of a blow off valve. The Agency Power valve is designed to be a 100 percent vent to atmosphere setup. Each valve is machined from 6061 billet aluminum then anodized in a stealth black finish. The top is laser engraved with the Agency Power cursive logo and directions for adjusting. When the top of the valve rotates, this allows you to adjust the spring tension for your application. You can set the valve to easily vent off pressure or be stiffer to only vent at maximum PSI. It also works with the factory intercooler hoses or Agency Power blow off valve hose. With larger end tanks, the bar and plate core is 1.50 inches thicker than stock. To prove its function, we tested the intercooler back to back with a stock intercooler on a modified Can-Am X3. With the only variable being the intercooler, our testing scenario was to do full pulls on the dyno 5 times in a row and on the 6th run, data log the charge air temperatures. First we did the stock intercooler, then followed up with the Agency Power intercooler after a short break. From the graph, you can see how red line (Agency Power Intercooler) only spikes to 124F. The OEM intercooler spikes to nearly 130F. This is almost a 5 percent difference in temperature. The advantages of the intercooler were also seen when we tried to increase boost pressure on a big injector tune to 19psi. With the stock intercooler, the knock sensors were not happy. However once the intercooler was installed, the cooler charge temperatures allowed us to maximize performance for both a 91 and 100 octane tune at higher boost levels.
